چکیده

The use of a microorganism or its secretions to prevent plant disease offers an attractive alternative or supplement to synthetic fungicides for the management of plant disease. A strain BS062 was selected based on the inhibitory effect of mycelial growth of Botrytis cinerea, a major causal fungus of postharvest root rots in ginseng and gray mold disease in strawberry. The strain BS062 was closely related to Streptomyces hygroscopicus (99% similarity) on the basis of the 16S ribosomal DNA sequence analysis. Postharvest root rots of ginseng and gray mold disease of strawberry caused by B. cinerea were controlled up to 80.7% and 58%, respectively, by treatment of the culture broth of Streptomyces sp. BS062. These results suggest that this antagonist could be considered as a potential biocontrol agent to control postharvest root rots in ginseng and gray mold disease in strawberry.

Control of Bipolaris Oryzae the Causal Agent of Rice Brown Spot Disease Via Soil Streptomyces Sp. Isolate G

Bipolaris oryzae causes rice brown spot disease which reduces rice yield with substantial global impact. Streptomycetes isolated from rice fields of Guilan Province, Iran, showed antifungal activity against the tested pathogen. From five active Streptomyces spp. isolates, isolate G showed high antagonistic activity. To determine its taxonomical identity, its colonies character...

Cytotoxicity effect of secondary metabolites of Streptomyces koyangensis and Streptomyces tunisiensis isolated from saline soils of Garmsar City on human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7, IBRC C10082)

Background: Streptomyces is one of the most important prokaryotic microorganisms, and their secondary metabolites have high antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties. Three-quarters of the antibiotics known to be produced by these bacteria. As a result, finding new effective compounds from these microorganisms can be a way to treat cancer. The aim of this study was to isolate and screen halophilic...
